Ampco System Parking understands that specialized environments require special people, and that in extraordinary situations, you must have extraordinary and innovative employees. This fact is clearly demonstrated by the operations at Catalina Express in Long Beach, a high-speed boat service to and from Santa Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California, for which Ampco provides parking management. We knew that staffing the facility with people who would rise to the occasion on peak days, or exceptional traffic days, would be critical to both our success and the satisfaction of Catalina Express customers. Therefore, we selected strong candidates, and our training team was careful to cover the stresses and needs of exceptional peak periods. In anticipation of a busy President’s Day/Valentine’s Day weekend, our staff designed and implemented a plan that exceeded the expectations of not only the riders of the Catalina Express boats, but our client as well.

Jeff,
I just wanted to let you know that Victor and Jeff at the Landing are doing an exceptional job. To prep for the Valentine/Presidents weekend, I gave Victor and Jeff the expected numbers for the parking structure. Victor told me that that was going to be tight and that he would try to get us additional parking. I informed him that if he secured us additional parking then I would be in a position to allow for extra boats to be added to our schedule. He called me later in the day to inform me that he secured the Chancellor's lot and that everything looked fine (so we added in 2 more runs.) The holiday weekend came. By Friday night, it was filling up. I saw Victor and his crew out there directing traffic and getting everyone in quickly. Saturday, I came in early, and I found that passengers were being sent to the Chancellor's lot by mid morning. I have to say, in the 15.5 years that I have worked here, this was the FIRST TIME we had a holiday weekend and did not receive even one complaint (NOT ONE!) about parking. No one missed their boat, and no one complained about having to walk from anywhere to get to our terminal. It was a GREAT weekend. So our call center got them here early, and your parking team got them parked quickly, easily, and with little to no stress to the passengers. I wanted to make sure you knew that this is the first time I have ever been so proud of a parking company we worked with. That crew, under the direction of Victor and Jeff are AWESOME, and it is a pleasure to work with such a competent team! Thank you!
