A new office opening was a perfect opportunity to give back
One of the most important ways we here at ABM make a difference is to give back to the communities we serve. In April 2019, 34 team members from Technology & Manufacturing, as well as local team members across HR, Safety, Integrated Facility Services (IFS), and other areas of the business joined forces to help multiple charities in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It was both an opportunity to give back and the perfect occasion to commemorate the opening of a new location. They divided themselves into sub-groups to support Habitat for Humanity, Mobile Meals, and Miracle Hill Rescue Mission. Their day off volunteering empowered them to help build new homes for the needy, deliver warm food to the elderly, and assist at a homeless shelter by serving meals, delivering food drive donations, and cleaning the facility.
Two team members even went above and beyond when they discovered elderly woman who had fallen on her porch and hit her head, rendering her helpless, while they were trying to deliver her meal. An ambulance was called and our team members waited with her until it arrived, making this another Make a Difference story where a life was potentially saved by our team members.
Through teamwork and the spirit of giving, this crew truly made a difference in the community.
