In 1909, ABM began as a modest window cleaning business. Through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, we’ve become much more.

We’ve expanded our platform with integrated services and new core capabilities in energy efficiency, healthcare support services, aviation services,
mission-critical solutions, and more.

Award-Winning Technology

We’re leveraging our award-winning technology to drive efficiencies through workforce automation, enabling 100% paperless operations, driving innovations in automated parking collections, and much more.

Service Quality Driven by Training & Technology

What can you expect from ABM? Excellence.

Service is our product, and we put our hearts into it. Some companies give clients only what’s contractually required. But that’s not us. Going “above and beyond” might sound like a cliché, but it’s what we do.

Technology Ensures Best Practices

Our latest “operations-on-the-go” technology, ABM MPower™, allows our employees to manage janitorial, facility engineering, and parking services with greater efficiency, and to analyze trends that lead to process and quality improvements.

Our Passion Is Building Value For You & Your Customers

Today’s ABM is about Building Value® — encompassing the thousands of physical assets we service and maintain as well as the value we create by improving your customer’s experience in your facilities.

Our Other Brands

Even though we’re all ABM, you might see us operating under different business names. So even if we are wearing a different shirt, we always deliver the same high ABM standards and quality.

Our other brands include:

GCA Services Group provides quality facility services, including janitorial services, contamination control for cleanroom manufacturing, facilities operations and maintenance, grounds management, production staffing and labor management. The Evolution of the ABM Logo

1909 — The company destined to become ABM is founded by 31-year-old Morris Rosenberg. He offers window washing services to merchants in San Francisco.

1913 — To mark its expansion from window washing to complete janitorial services, Morris changes the company’s name to American Building Maintenance Company.

The 1940s

Ted Rosenberg takes over following the unexpected death of his father. ABM had annual sales of $750,000 and had opened new offices in 17 cities in the United States and Canada.

1949 — The company creates a new logo and the famous “Giant Janitor” is a copyrighted trademark.

The 1980s

ABM began the 1980s with annual revenues of $300M and ended the decade surpassing $500M through organic growth and acquisitions.

With aspirations of achieving $1B in annual revenue, ABM creates a new logo.
