Strengthening the semiconductor talent pipeline by accelerating workforce readiness

The semiconductor industry is growing but the qualified workforce to support it isn't keeping pace. Semiconductor Bootcamp was built to close that gap, giving employers a faster path to job-ready talent and giving individuals a supported entry point into one of the world's most in-demand industries. We help bring new talent up to speed faster, so they can operate safely and contribute effectively from day one.

Program Design

Delivered at our technical training centers, the program is built for people who bring technical aptitude from diverse places such as career-changers and transitioning veterans. Developed with end-users and OEMs, the program is designed to:

  • Build foundational familiarity with semiconductor operations
  • Prepare participants for fab and subfab environments
  • Reinforce workforce safety, proper gowning, and maintenance practices
  • Give participants practical exposure before employer-specific onboarding
  • Serve employers across the industry through a company-agnostic model

Target Audience

Semiconductor Bootcamp is employer-exclusive and oriented toward the operations and support roles that keep semiconductor facilities running, including:

  • Facilities operations and maintenance technicians
  • Subfab and critical systems technicians
  • Gas and chemical services technicians
  • Equipment support and preventive maintenance technicians
  • Equipment installation and relocation technicians
  • Facilities construction and project support roles
  • Environmental, health, and safety support technicians

Curriculum

Our curriculum focuses on safety and reflects the skills and knowledge new hires actually need in the semiconductor industry. Participants gain foundational exposure to areas such as:

  • Semiconductor operations and processes
  • Basic electrical systems
  • Pneumatics, vacuum, and water systems
  • Robotics and process-tool components
  • RF, microwave, and plasma systems
  • Calibrated tools, hand tools, and test equipment
  • Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe work practices

Methods of Instruction

Many programs are strictly delivered online or with minimal classroom and hands-on activity. Our modules are delivered in-person across multiple methods of instruction, so participants build both understanding and hands-on confidence before they set foot in your facility.

  • Virtual Reality - Participants practice complex tasks in a safe, controlled environment before touching real equipment, building confidence and muscle memory without the risk
  • Lab - Hands-on time with real equipment where participants develop the technical skills and physical familiarity that classroom instruction alone can't replicate
  • Classroom - Instructor-led sessions provide real-time guidance, immediate feedback, and the foundational knowledge participants need to make sense of what they experience in the lab
  • Process Tool Lab - Participants have hands-on access to a functioning process tool before they ever enter a client's fab — the closest thing to day-one experience without being on site

Program highlights

  • Approximately 40 hours of immersive training content, delivered in-person at ABM technical training centers in Boise, ID and Austin, TX
  • Collaboration with semiconductor manufacturers, OEMs, and other industry partners ensures curriculum stays relevant
  • Includes participant assessments, giving employers visibility into participant readiness
  • Endorsed by SEMI, the industry's leading trade association
